Sand and Water 7.10 1-2
India Ink on Paper
7.25" x 12" and 10.25" x12"
I have produced may "Sand and Water" pieces and have not add them to the website. They are all very different and use the same process of working on the beach next to and with the ocean. Photographs do not begin to capture the infinite detail of the original ink drawings. Please contact me for additional images or to visit the studio for a viewing. ~Thank You

The organic movement of sand mixing with water on the beach captivates human eyes. Many who visit this edge spend time watching the waves break on the shore or look out to the vastness of the ocean. Land is connected to water by all the subtle variations of movement and molecules which makes these two elements separate yet entwined.

Observing the beautiful natural patterning, I decided to make impressions reflecting universal chaos. The process involves soaking paper gently in rolling waves, then laying it on the beach and layering the sheet with sand. Splashing India Ink over the sand water composition allows for capturing of the organic movements, thus revealing a glimpse of the edge. The finished black and white ink drawings bare a stunning resemblance to ariel views of geographical formations.
